Royal NP - Karloo Pools
Another place I have been to many times. You could call this my favourite “backyard swimming pool.” It can get a fair bit of foot traffic according to the bushwalking books, although I am yet to experience this… shhh!
The walk here is pretty simple – all downhill, it’s just unfortunate that it isn’t the other way around, because after a very relaxing swim to cool off, it is a long, uphill and sweaty climb out! The peace, quiet and beauty of this place is not to be underestimated. Although the ‘Wheel of Fire’ waterhole in Eungella NP (the one this reminds me of) beats this one hands down, the benefit of not having to travel 1830km to get here is obvious!
